THE CANNABIS PLANT

Cannabis Sativa L. is the binomial name for the species of plant of the family Cannabaceae, genus Cannabis and species C. sativa, which actually means "cultivated grain", traditionally also named hemp among many other indigenous names in many countries around the world. People have cultivated Cannabis throughout recorded history as a source of industrial fibre, seed oil, food, recreation, religious and spiritual ritual, and medicine.  Each part of the plant is harvested differently, depending on the purpose of its use, and every part is beneficial.

There are three main sub-species of Cannabis: Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica and Cannabis ruderalis.
